Powerful Detox Drink Recipe to Burn Stubborn Belly Fat

Belly fat is the excessive fat found around the abdomen. Belly fat can be so embarrassing especially when one is expected to wear a smart cloth. This issue of gaining fat around the belly has been one of the major concerns of many these days. It seems more people are having this challenge every blessed day. The question is that what could have been those things that actually causes belly fat? You need to know the cause of a problem before you can proffer solutions and as well prevent further reoccurrences, right? That’s why it’s important to know the reasons why people gain belly fat in order to have a better understanding of how to burn the fat and also prevent gaining the fat again after burning. From my research, I’ve come to understand some of the reasons why people gain excessive belly fat and I will gladly love to share with you. 10 REASONS WHY PEOPLE GAIN BELLY FAT 1) High intake of sugary drinks and foods: I’m starting with this because a lot of people are guilty of this. High sugary drinks and foods including cakes and candies, sweet tea and carbonated drinks are among what an average person consumes daily. However, consumption of these sugary foods and drinks have been discovered to be belly of the major factors that causes belly fat because sugar slows down metabolism. 2) Alcohol: The excess calories from consumption of alcohol is stored as fat, and like sugar, alcohol slows down fat burning and metabolism. 3) Lack of exercise/Inactivity: If a person consumes more calories than she/he burns off, such a one will gain weight especially belly fat over time. One of the most effective ways to burn calories is through exercising. Squatting, Child pose, Sit Up, Planking are some of the forms of exercises that help in getting rid of belly fat. 4) Low protein and fibre diet: High protein diets will make you full even with little quantity which invariably leads to increase in metabolic rate and lead to a spontaneous reduction in calorie intake. So, if on the other hand, you eat low-protein and high-carb diets, you tend to overeat which might cause decrease in metabolic rate. 5) Late night eating: Eating late at night increases the risk of having indigestion. The metabolic rate is also slowed down at this point, thereby, causing increase in belly fat. 6) Insufficient sleep: Inadequate sleep greatly have a role in gaining belly fat. Also, some sleeping disorders especially sleep apnea (a condition in which breathing stops repeatedly during the night due to soft tissue in the throat blocking the airway) has been been confirmed to be associated with belly fat. 7) Old age: As one ages, the metabolism naturally slows down, and total body fat gradually increases. 8) Frequent Indigestion: Indigestion results majorly as a results of eating too much, eating too fast, eating high-fat foods and drinking too much alcohol or caffeinated. Overeating slows down digestive process. Food eaten in large quantities remain in the stomach for a longer period of time eventually turns into fat. 9) Stress: A steroid hormone known as cortisol helps the body control and deal with stress. Whenever a person is in a dangerous or high-pressure situation, the body will release cortisol which have impact on metabolism. And it has been proven that people tend to eat anyhow when they’re stressed making them over eat. Cortisol produced will now cause the excess calories from overeating to get stored around the belly, thereby resulting in belly fat. 10) Menopause: Most women tend to gain belly fat during menopause due to hormonal changes in the body. However, hormonal changes alone don’t necessarily cause belly fat. It is as well associated with aging and lifestyle. DOES BELLY FAT HAS EFFECT ON THE HEALTH AT ALL? Oh Yes! It does. Belly fat poses dangerous threat to health. It increases chances of developing a number of serious health issues, including diabetes, gallbladder problems, etc   Today, I have a simple recipe for a detox drink that helps in burning belly fat. I’veย  this remedy before and it worked. What do you need to prepare this belly fat drink? Edikang Ibong Soup

Yoooo! It’s another time to talk about food. Why food? It’s simply because we’re what we feed on whether spiritually or physically? If one will be healthy in your body, spirit, soul and mind, one needs the substance called Food. Having said that, let’s go down to business. There are these 2 canteens (owned by Igbo women) located close to my primary place of assignment (PPA). These women have really captured my heart with their Igbo soups. I only go to those shops to eat solid foods and not the regular rice. Yesterday was not an exception, I ate this correct Edikang Ibong soup that made my stomach rejoice. Let’s quickly talk about this soup called Edikang Ibong. The Nigerian Edikang Ikong soup or simply Vegetable Soup is native to the Efiks, people from Akwa Ibom and Cross River states of Nigeria. It is a general notion that the Edikang Ikong soup is very nutritious and this is absolutely true. The vegetables made in preparation of this soup are superb. Prepared with a generous quantity of pumpkin leaves and water leaves coupled with dried fish and assorted meats, this Nigerian soup recipe is nourishing in every sense of the word. INGREDIENTS 1kg Pumpkin leaves also known as Ikong Ubong /Ugu leaves 500g Water leaves (Talinum Triangulare) 600g of assorted meat: cow tripe (shaki), snails, cowโ€™s skin(kanda) Stockfish(optional) Smoked/dried fish Pepper Salt Ground crayfish (to taste) 200ml Palm oil 1 cup Periwinkle 2 medium onions 1-2 stock cubes Alternative vegetables for those who cannot buy water leaves and pumpkin leaves: 1kg normal frozen spinach 200g ground frozen spinach 250g lamb’s lettuce (canonigos in Spanish) Defrost the frozen spinach, cut the normal frozen one into tiny pieces and mix with the ground frozen spinach. Wring out the water from these and add them when the written recipe requires you to add the pumpkin leaves. Wash, pick and cut the Lamb’s Lettuce into tiny pieces. Add them when the written recipe requires you to add water leaves. METHOD OF PREPARATION 1. When the meat is done, add a generous amount of palm oil, the ground crayfish and pepper and leave to boil for about 10 minutes. The palm oil serves as the liquid in the Edikang Ikong soup. You should try as much as possible to make it the only liquid in the soup. 2. Add the periwinkle and water leaves, leave to cook for another 5 minutes. You may have to cook for less time at this stage so that the water leaves are not over-cooked. 3. Now, add the pumpkin leaves and salt to taste. Stir the contents of the pot very well and turn off the heat. Cover the pot and leave to stand for about 5 minutes. 4. That’s it! Serve with Garri (Eba) , Semolina Fufu , Amala, Cassava Fufu or Pounded Yam.

10 Home Remedies For Getting Rid of Dark Spots

Dark spots are common skin problem found mainly in young adults. These dark spots are also known as hyperpigmentation. These spots most often show up on parts of the body such as the face, hands, legs, back, thighs and neck. Causes of dark spots include sun exposure, inflammation, hormonal changes, taking chemical medications, pregnancy, some health problems (for instance, liver disease), and aging. Dark spots especially those on the face gives a lot of concern to people that have them as it makes them less confident about themselves. Most females resort into covering up these spots with makeups. However, instead of covering the spots with makeup, use the remedies listed in this article to clean/get rid ofย  those dark spots naturally. 1) LEMON JUICE: Using lemon juice to clear dark spots is a verified and trusted long practice which has shown unfailing results. The acidity in lemon acts like a bleaching agent and helps reduce discoloration. However, lemon is always in its concentrated form and can be harsh on the skin. So, you could add yoghurt, honey, rose water or even ordinary water to the lemon juice to dilute it. I once applied lemon juice directly to my knees and elbows to lighten the dark part but I experienced severe itchy. I had to quickly wash off with soap and water. Do not apply any home remedies containing lemon juice around or under your eyes as the skin in those areas is highly sensitive. Also, it’s advisable to use only freshly squeezed lemon juice as the packaged variety contains preservatives which might harm the skin. 2) APPLE CIDER VINEGAR: Apple cider vinegar contains alpha hydroxy acids. This is the same chemical that is used in chemical peels to remove dead skin cells and facilitate the production of new skin cells, and works as an exfoilant. It also contains malic acid that prevents acne and optimizes the production of sebum, making sure your skin is neither too oily nor too dry. Dilute the apple cider vinegar with water or honey and use a cotton wool to apply the mixture on the dark spots areas and leave it on for about 15 minutes before washing off with water. Apple cider vinegar is very strong can cause burn the face when used in concentrated form especially the Braggs product. 3) TOMATOES: Tomatoes is a very good skin toner. Tomato contains vitamins A, B, and C that boost collagen production, reduce dark spots, fight free radicals, and maintain the elasticity of your skin. It also contains minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium and lycopene โ€“ a component that moisturize the skin. Tomatoes are not only good when directly applied on the skin but also do wonders when you have it raw, therefore, it is advisable to add tomatoes to one’s daily diet. You can also apply tomato juice mixed with a bit of lemon juice on your face and leave it for about 10 minutes and rinse it with cold water. This makes your skin soft, smooth and glowing. 4) CUCUMBER: Cucumber has 96% water content and this high water content makes it a great moisturizer for the skin. Cucumber also contains cucurbitacins and cucumerin that helps in delaying the signs of aging. Health Benefits of Walnut

Awusa as fondly and popularly called is one of those nuts I love so much when I was small. One of the reasons I love Awusa is the bitter taste it gives when you drink water after eating. The fruit itself is not bitter. In fact, you’ll enjoy eating it. But, if you drink water immediately after eating it, your tongue, taste buds, throat and the entire mouth becomes bitter. It seems like walnut is going into extinction now because I barely could see them aeounfy again. Walnut is called Asala or Awusa in Yoruba; Ukpa in Ibo; and Okhue or Okwe in Edo. It is botanically called Tetracarpidium conophorum or Plukenetia conophora, African walnut belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae. Walnut(Awusa) has been scientifically proven to contain some minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients needed for the healthy functioning of the humanโ€™s body which include; thiamine, riboflavin, folic acid, cyanocobalamin (vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12, C and E), niacin, manganese, l-arginine, pyridoxine, selenium, melatonin, ascorbic acid, pantothenic acid, tocopherol, ellagic acid, polyphenols, omega-3 fatty acids and oleic acid. In folk medicines, the leaves extracts are usually taken by pregnant women to prevent the risk of miscarriages. The leaf extracts of the African walnut (ukpa) can be used for regulating menstrual flow in women suffering from irregular menstruation. The leaves extracts of the African walnut are taken to stop and relief constant and prolonged hiccups. Also, the oil from the nut is used in the formulation of wood varnish, vulcanised oil for rubber and leather substitute. That being said, let’s focus on the health benefits of the seed/fruit: Walnut seeds have been reported effective for tackling male infertility issues by boosting sperm productions in the testicles. Walnut is an excellent source of healthy polyunsaturated fat and omega-3 fatty acids. This has made it effective for reducing the bodyโ€™s cholesterol level. Walnuts contain antioxidants that are so powerful at free radical scavenging like polyphenols. Research has shown that walnut polyphenols may help prevent chemically-induced liver damage. Walnut polyphenols had the best efficacy among the nuts tested and also the highest lipoprotein-bound antioxidant activity. These antioxidants can decrease the enhanced vulnerability to oxidative stress that occurs in aging and also increase health span. Walnut also contain antioxidants called alpha linolenic acid, and omega-3 fatty acid that serve as stress relieving agents. Walnuts also contain melatonin, a hormone that induces and regulates sleep. Walnuts also contain many plant chemicals, including tannin which helps to fight inflammation. Researchers have suggested that these chemicals may put the nut in position to help combat asthma and rheumatoid arthritis.
