Siblings Love

God made it possible that I’m the first born of my parents. And amazingly, I have three  cute siblings.

Growing up with these three weren’t easy and funny. Of course, we are of the same father and mother but we were very far apart.
I mean really far apart. Probably because we were small then.

We fought a lot, argued and rarely talked to each other.

We only talk very well when there are things to joke about.

We would fight over food or who to do one house chore or the other. It was very funny.

I can’t forget one particular day when my immediate brother injured me with a sharp pencil.
I was sleeping on the chair when I just felt a sharp pain in my stomach.
I cried out from my sleep like I was going to die that day 😁
My daddy ran to the scene and you need to see how he beat my brother that day.
It was not funny.

Another thing we fought over was the issue of calling me “Sis Tolu” instead of Tolu(lol).

I remember people would tell me he is a boy and he can’t respect me. Haba!! But why?
Is it a crime for me to be a girl?

But thanks to my parents, they do not believe in so called ideology.

I can remember my dad would clearly tell him that the fact that he is a boy doesn’t make him the elder.
He must respect me as his elder sister. My dad would also make sure my brother stayed in the kitchen with us while cooking.

Nevertheless, as much as my siblings and I weren’t close then, there were times we really stood for each other.
Especially days when we’ve all done something wrong 😁😁

But as time goes on, I began to see things in different dimensions.
I discovered I need my siblings more than anything.
After God, my siblings became so dear to me.

We laughed, cried, talked and played together the more.
My immediate younger brother became my close pal that I do wish he’s “a girl” a times.

The boy became my confidant, prayer partner, advisor, et all.

My other two siblings, even though still young, have grown to love everyone of us.

Almost everyone in life has one or more siblings.
Even those that are just only child of their parents have someone they can call sibling.

Seriously, siblings love is a rare kind of love but I’ve heard stories whereby siblings hate each other till they grow up and go as far as hurting each other.

Well, there could be a lot of reasons to that.
But parents should try as much as possible to build a strong relationship among siblings right from when they’re still very young. Also, let there be no favouritism.

To siblings out there:
Love yourselves. No matter what your brother(s) or sister(s) might have done, you still share so many things in common.
Trust me, they would be there when you needed help the most.

Offer help in ways you can for one another.

Respect each other’s opinions.

Be humble to one another.

Have heart to heart talks

Be a secret keeper.

Buy gifts for one another.

Forget about childhood wars and forgive.

Listen to one another

Support one another’s vision.

Learn to apologize even if you are the elder one/eldest.

Share your personal belongings.

Go out with your siblings.

Give advice when necessary.

Most importantly, pray for your siblings.
When it seems you people are at loggerheads, pray.
When you feel your siblings are going astray, pray.
Pray for love.
Pray for their success.
Pray and pray always.
