It was the period of examination and everywhere appeared tensed. As it is well known that examination period is always a stressful time for most students. A lot will become automatic reading room
majors while others turn to overnight readers.
Just like every other time, 200 level first semester exams were around the corner then and as expected I was busy studying for the exams.
I had to offer a lot of courses outside my departments which include zoology, statistics, food technology, biology and chemistry.
“I don’t know how Botany seems to relate with all these courses”,that was my thought. The courses seems to be a huge burden on me. Zoology and statistics were the most difficult of all.
Reading was really stressful at that time. Unfortunately, my time table wasn’t favourable as I was having 2 papers in a day and each course being voluminous.
My diet changed. I couldn’t have time to cook and feed well.
Also, I began to have various sleepless night.
Before I knew what was happening, fear started creeping in.
I couldn’t assimilate again. Anytime I try to read, I would find myself crying. Crying over the fear of failure, the fear of too much things to read, the fear of carry over, the fear of gp decreasing, the fear of you must not disappoint your parents.
Of course, every student will always think of that but mine was to the extreme.
I became very sick and lean towards the middle of the examination period.
I can remember crying profusely on the stair case leading to my room the day I wrote statistics exam. The exam was nothing to write home about. A 4-unit course for that matter.
The exam made things worse as my fear multiplied.
Anytime I was to read, I would just be staring at the book in front of me without comprehending anything. All the pages of the book would appear blank.
There were times during that period that I had wished the world comes to an end. My body system started rejecting food, I was having serious running stomach. At the long run, I had high fever.
The last paper I wrote (zoo 211) was just a miracle. It was a 6-hours paper with practicals. I might have probably fainted in the exam hall if not for God’s mercies.
The results finally came out and like you would have thought, I didn’t pass my courses well.
I lost my health at that point and took a long time to get regained.
I lost a lot of marks. All because of what?
FEAR!!!!!!!!!!
Has you ever been in a frightened situation before and you felt like defecating in your pants?
Have you been afraid before to the extent that it seems your head is no more on your body?
Yes, fear is as terrible as that.
A lot have lost their lives, precious opportunities, their health, etc to fear.
According to Wikipedia, Fear is a feeling induced by perceived danger or threat that occurs in certain types of
organisms , which causes a change in metabolic and organ functions and ultimately a change in behavior, such as fleeing, hiding, or freezing from perceived traumatic events.
Fear is just False Experience Appearing Real. Fear majorly occur as a result of hallucination. A lot of times, what we fear about doesn’t seems to happen. You imagine something that has never happened and allow it to affect your real world.
Fear has been known to be a major cause of various forms of diseases ranging from anorexia, hypertension, paralyses, mental disorders or even death.
One of the Ember months has begun and many are already scared of things that have never happened and are bound not to happen.
Sicknesses and death happen to always be on the increase at the last quarter of every year. Why?
If a larger number of people will do away with fear during these period, problems will decrease.
To keep your spirit, soul, body and mind in a healthy state, you have to do away with fear.
Be positive
Happy New Month
