Shed That Weight

The popular song of “You’re adding weight” has been ringing continuously over the past few months in my ears from people. Initially, I wasn’t taking it with much seriousness but a time came that the words were getting to me.

I was getting unhappy about the choice of words of some people though.

“Is it a crime to gain weight?. If I’m slim, the same set of people will still talk. What about people that are fatter than me? How have they been living their lives?”. Those were things I kept asking myself over and over again.

It got to a point, I started comparing myself with anybody I see.

“Am I as fat as that person?”, I will ask my friends and most times, their replies will be NO.

“Ehnehn, so I’m not even that fat as most people claim. It’s just that I added weight compare to how I was which isn’t bad in the real sense”, I will think within myself.

As days go by, I will carry my laptop and begin to peruse through my old pictures to see the changes in my growth.

“Yeeeeee, I was this slim in 2018”, I will scream at several times. They were some pictures I nearly never believed I was the one.

Truly, I know I am not fat fat fat as some people will make one feel but at the same time, it’s glaring that I have added a little weight.

Anyways, I love the new stature of mine though.

However, I knew I must try to avoid excessive weight gain and I need to take actions about maintaining my current stature.

Therefore, about two months, I decided to plunge into action of shedding some weight. Firstly, I needed to know what had made me add weight within few months and how I can just maintain how I am right now.

And guess what my discovery was?

I have been feeding poorly and exercising less.

Interesting, right?

Someone will say, “Is it not when you are feeding well that you’re meant to be robust?”. But nay, it isn’t always so.

When you feed well and exercise approximately, you keep fit and not get fat.

Do you know how badly I fed in 2019?
I ate a whole lot of junks, I mean a whole lot.

Soft drinks were like pure water to me.
There were days I drank two bottles of soft drinks. If I had taken stock of the bottles of drinks I took this year, I’m sure I’d have loved to beat myself up.

Not only that, I fed so much on carbohydrates especially rice and bread.

Rice was my breakfast, lunch and dinner for so many days.

And what is the end result of carbohydrates? Sugar!

I ate a lot of night food especially heavy foods like Fufu.

After that discovery, I signed in for a particular online weight loss class which lasted for 14 days.

Trust me, there wasn’t any special thing to reducing weight than to regulate, change or watch one’s diet and exercise accordingly.

We started with detoxifying for the first 4 days. I will talk about detoxifying soon. After that, we had a time table on the types of foods to be eaten for the remaining 10 days.

There were specific foods to be taken, some not to be taken and the quantity of food to be taken.

It wasn’t easy truly. I could not even follow the regime accordingly because of some restraint.

But the bottom line is that, to shed/lose weight physically, it deals with consistent feeding appropriately and exercising regularly.

Note the word: CONSISTENT.

Without consistency and continuity, one’s desired goals won’t be achieved.

Many people had come to me to enquire if there are some plants that can actually make one lose weight especially belly fat. Yes, there are but everything still centers around FEEDING WELL AND EXERCISING.

Foods to eat to keep fit includes Oat, Brown Rice, Green Tea, Banana, Vegetables, Boiled Plantain, Beans, Vegetables, etc

Exercises that can be done to loss weight and keep fit includes Skipping, Planking, Sit Ups, etc

However, it is obviously great to keep fit spiritually as much as it is good to keep fit physically.

In fact, spiritual fitness is key and more important.

Hebrews 12:2 says

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us Hebrews 12:1 (KJV)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of [a]witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us Hebrews 12:1 (AMP)

Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins Hebrews 12:1 (MSG)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)

Can you see the same text in differ versions?

No one that desires to get to Heaven will do so with unnecessary weight of sins and other hindrances on the way to Heaven.

And trust me, keeping fit spiritually follows the same procedures with keeping fit physically which is simply FEEDING WELL AND EXERCISING ACCORDINGLY.

To keep fit spiritually, feed on right food of the Word of God, godly books, godly music, godly movies and godly counsels.

Avoid junks of sensual, sinful and immoral books and movies.

To keep fit spiritually, exercise regularly in fasting, daily prayers and in the Spirit.

According to Hebrews 12:1&2, we’re on a race. And remember, athletes need to be fit for the race.

2020 is another year of race as well, let’s keep fit both spiritually and physically so as to run to obtain our prizes at the end.

Let’s embark on the journey of keeping fit spiritually and physically together.

Compliments of the Season
